gp monster

GP is coming up in 2 days...

Boss information:

Name - GP monster
Location - In one of the hardest instances know to man, the A levels
Hp - Indeterminate. Its too amorphous in nature to even estimate its difficulty.

Attacks and Abilities:
  • Inference Questions attack - This ability makes the raid scratch their head in confusion for a period of more than 10 mins, wondering wtf it is trying to tell them.
  • Vocab Questions attack - A damage over time spell which hits for 200 hp/sec. Must describe some characteristics of the beast to remove this DOT. But trying to find words to describe this unfathamable beast escapes even the toughest of main tanks
  • Application Questions attack - A finishing move. Once the raid has exhausted all their mana/hp/potions/energy on trying to bring it down, it hits them with an inexorably powerful attack wiping the lesser skilled raids.
  • Note: this is a timed encounter!!! Taking longer than 1.5 hours to take down this boss WILL wipe your raid!! Beware.

However, this author is of the view that the highly skilled, wonderfully motivated (thanks to commander SONS) and powerfully geared members of guild <4t04> are well prepared and equipped to deal with this hardest of bosses.

If you havnt yet realised, i m damn bored. =P

ps: blogger keeps screwing me up coz the formatting sux. thats why the picture is at the bottom. and does anyone have the songs from gong, ye man wang fei (princess hours)??? they're damn nice but i cant find them coz they're in korean!!

clear skies!!

yay!! the haze finally looks like its beginning to clear.. After 2 weeks of rotting in an air-con room can finally breathe fresh air. =D

Btw, i was just thinking about how come the haze could suddenly clear just like that. so being the wonderful ex-geog student that i am, i went to do some research. Apparently...

Northeast Winter Monsoon (Asia)

"In Asia, the northeastern winter monsoons take place from December to early March. The temperature over central Asia is lower, creating a zone of high pressure there. The jet stream in this region splits into the southern subtropical jet and the polar jet. The subtropical flow directs northeasterly winds to blow across south Asia, creating dry air streams which produce clear skies over India from the months of November to May.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system develops over northern Australia and winds are directed toward Australia known as a monsoon trough.

During the Northeast Winter Monsoon, Australia and southeast Asia receive large amounts of rainfall." -wikipedia

And thanks to the wonderful dr chiong who was the one who stimulated my interest in geog!!

remember when we used to stay back from 3.30 to 6.00 on mondays and fridays to do mock papers??? and still remember when we cheong (no pun intended) to ming kee to have lunch, and buy chocolates from ntuc, den come back panting pretending like we just ran 2.4?? hahaha. and she was like "okay guuuuuys, sit down and start doing. u have 2 hours to finish the paper" o.0

those were the days....

mugging - a new lifestyle

after a week long hiatus after my last post, i decided to pick up my pen and pap... i mean, my keyboard and mouse and blog about the newest crazy to hit town. yep, its THE most "in" thing now, the latest craze to hit everyone in town. nope, its not the WOW expansion (at least not yet anyways =P). of course, its mugging.

Like everyone, i was swept into this new craze, but somehow i think mugging detaches people from the real world. seriously. its like some kind of pseudo-reality that you enter when u start on a set of notes. the world just happily revolves around you with you having no part to play in it. for e.g. i had absolutely NO idea that hari raya and deepavali just passed... i was asking my mum if today was a holiday ornot coz i thought i saw a red marking on my calender. then found out my calender was still on september.

Then again, its not like we can not mug. i just had a sudden revelation the other day. You know when we fill up forms for random internet stuff like opening a new email account? under "profession" we all put "students" right? that means we're professional students. just like how a professional footballer has to play football everyday; a professional doctor has to treat patients everyday; a professional wanker has to wank everyday, a professional student has to study everyday!! its like doing ur job... in a sense.

And like all jobs, we cannot do it everyday every hour right? the law of diminishing returns applies to mugging as well. for all u non-econs noobs, basically, in the context of mugging, the law of diminishing returns states: beyond a certain amount of mugging u do, every additional hour that u put in will add less to ur total knowledge than the previous hour did. ie, ur productivity decreases, coz fatigue and sianness sets in. makes sense right??? So, its better that u mug for 2 hrs and rest 1 hr and 2 hrs again, then to mug for 5 hrs straight. haha, all that bullshit was an attempt to make myself feel better for slacking. =P. hope it works for u too.

we should do what jay chou tells us to do:

退后!! Dont push urself too hard!!

conclusion: its our last round of mugging in like 2 years!! but dont mug until u collapse lah. =D

ps: the girl in the vid is hebe. damn damn damn chio right? wah lao paikia got so chio gf one, i wanna be paikia!!!

you're beautiful.........

okay. this wins any competition for the worst mtv... ever. presenting... "you're beautiful" by james blunt:

but someone once told me theres a deeper meaning behind it. its about daring to bare it all and willing to take the plunge. maybe hes trying to use the popularity of his song to spread this lesson, and teach us to be like him, braving the odds and having the courage to do the unthinkable.

or, u could just heck about all that and just laugh at how dumb the video is.

and heres another hilarious video, spoofed from the one above:

outdated but still...

okok this was supposed to be posted yesterday but i couldn't - some computer problem i think

***

so fast - 2 years have already (almost) passed... many people would probably - i don't know? - be in this reflective and thoughtful mood right now... it's a bit like a shopkeeper stocktaking of all your products and evaluating how some products could be sold better/more, or which stocks should be removed to make way for newer and better ones.

i'd like to quote what my classmate s3ntH;| said during a gp lesson: (paraphrased) "we lead sad lives...as we grow we store our sorrows like a reservoir..." although it sounds depressing and bleak, it's really quite true right?

i still remember all the stupid or wrong things i said or done way back in primary school and even a bit earlier (not to mention, my parents still reminisce about the silly things i did, which were funny, to them that is heh)

of course our lives aren't that lousy (at least not all the time) (at least not for me) we have our happy moments/days but when we get sad we somehow forget how we could have been happy at all? a little odd that we don't accumulate this "reservoir" of happiness as easily as for the reservoir of sadness? are we innately sad people? haha... maybe we're just a bit too self-conscious at times. or too afraid to do the wrong things...

(tangent about being afraid to do wrong things) perhaps it's this asian culture thing; we're a bit too inhibited, in terms of our actions and words?)

anyway back to the thing about thinking about the past... it'll be nice to just forget about some things and just move on, but of course we can't. wonder if there's anyone from school that can say they really have "no regrets" about anything during the past two years? maybe there are? those people must be lucky, or really hardworking and smart. wonder if anyone is going to take photos tomorrow? would anyone want to? haha... (if i weren't lazy and concerned about losing the camera i probably may take a few) i'm not pessimistic about this whole farewell thing i'm just reflective about it... using my head rather than heart here hmm...

i'm still fairly optimistic about the future; i just hope i don't get lazy or scatterbrained or forgetful or indecisive (argh!)... i think those are some of the worst qualities to possess when you're independent (after 12 long years of formal education) sadly i AM a bit like that haha (still a little clueless about uni applications)

ok too long too long! need to do work and sleep - i need to improve my thinking speed haha!

***

ok i'm wrong, i'm too pessimistic; was quite happy to see people around me being trigger-happy today :) at least we're not sad people heh.

after farewell assembly 2

Hey.

yea, i agree with bangbus. something just didnt seem to be right at farewell assembly. i really miss those ri ceremonies when the teachers come dressed in academic gowns with grand music blaring and the sad emo songs playing (like sundial dreams) . Ceremonies in rj like appear to be just niceities that dont really have a deeper meaning. you know like people are just doing things for the sake of them being done. you know looking at the picture presentation today was simply to me just seeing a recollection of pictures, and nothing more. do u remember the ri productions? the whole hall will be cheering like mad lah! and you would really feel nostalgic about things just watching the video. sadly, like i was void of emotions today. duno why.

haha the only time i was anywhere near tearing was probably during junli's speech. it was like i could really feel what she was saying, haha maybe being her classmate helped. anyway, i guess in ri you are like hand-made to perfection but in rj its like you are factory produced by the thousands. its just so so so different. whatever it is, 6 years of rafflesian education has ended and i can say that i have had totally no regrets in coming to raffles. haha our blood is more or less green black white right.

i also went for my first and only class outing today. okay lah, i must say if there is one big regret about my jc life, it would be not spending enough time with my class. maybe i should have tried harder but its like wadever it was, my mind was always with 4t people mah haha. morning 4t table, afterschool go home 4t. at night dota also 4t. but anyway everyone loves me in my class (i hope) so not that bad lah. and of course i more or less enjoyed school with the 3E front row gang - kenny, matthew and nigel albeit getting into quite a lot of trouble every lesson with every teacher. it never ends lah right mrchng. haha. On a side note, MANHATTAN FISHMARKET SUCKS. food expensive, super low quality, not nice, service bad and sauces are cheapskate and weird tasting - never ever go there. For all the 3E people reading this, must say sorry for being so dao sometimes lah, it wished i could have been more enthu. anyway, I think 3E has one of the strongest class identity , our teachers also say so right, haha, challenge to teach us. go check out the 3E page in the batch book, its ownage lor.

lastly, outlook to the future. pes BP people (ie space and me) hopefully army same platoon okay. then you can look after me and hopefully we wont die. then i dont know, 10 years later can meet up somewhere again at SONS' house. hopefully this time got mrs sons already and babysons and also rabbitsons will still be alive with finally a male mate and children.

4to4 @ rj - you guys are the best.

ok byebye and all the best for As and army and everything else.

After Farewell Assembly...

Ok this may seem like a continuation to zhiwei's post haha. So yeah, farewell assembly is over and the last last day of school is finally over, but I didn't really feel that sad or nostalgic despite all the slideshows and parting words frm teachers, and that felt kinda weird. It did strike me that it was probably our last or 2nd last time singing the college anthem after 6 whole years of it and the batch song was definitely a high (though the tempo was way too slow), but it somehow just lacked the atmosphere and the sense of parting I felt on RI grad ceremony.

I guess part of it was as zhiwei said, its really not a very appropriate time to say goodbyes considering revision lectures and A lvls. Everyone is too busy with SATs and uni apps and mugging to be in the right mood for goodbyes. But more than that, for me at least, I just dont feel as strong a sense of belonging to RJ as to RI, and I dunno whether thats a good thing lol. I have made some great friends in RJ and I am really glad that 4T stayed together all the way til today, and I definitely enjoyed my time here, but when I think back to RI days, RJ days just seem to pale in comparison.

Like I was telling a classmate on the way home a week ago, I don't get the same kind of feeling walking down a corridor in RJ and a corridor in RI; the corridor in RJ brings back just mundane memories of walking to tutorials or lectures but corridors in RI bring back memories of catching, water gun fights and marching in uniform. Maybe its cos the time we had in RJ was just too short. After 2 years, we have finally settled in but its already time for us to leave. If we had 4 years in RJ, i might have been feeling very different today. Or maybe its just cos of the path I have taken these 2 years and the activities I have engaged in, but thats another story.

Nevertheless, I still have to say these two years have been great in different ways from my RI years, and I have indeed grown and matured these two years (or so i hope). Other than 4T, my class 2S03I has been my closest circle of friends, and although I dont think any of them knows about this blog, I still have to thank my classmates for the fun and crappy stuff we've done these two years like frisbee, spades marathon, shithead etc.

OKOK, enuff of my rambling its getting too personal I think anyone who started reading this will have fallen asleep by now, but that pretty much sums up what I'm feeling now haha. Maybe I'll edit this and remove stuff later but for now I have nothing more to say and I need to go dota or colin and cheehow will murder me lol.

Tmr farewell assembly le.....

Wow, i can't believe that tmr will be the farewell assembly already. Dont really know what to expect though, coz its not really the end yet, but it is. strangely. Its kinda confusing. Its like saying bye, but knowing that u will see the person again, hence dunno whether u should say bye in the first place.

Lowo is right. I will miss all the bioing of chiobus. yar i know RJ average standard of girls not high lah, haha, but whos complaining? got enough above average ones can liao. U dont need all the flowers in the garden to be beautiful, just enough nice ones to catch ur eye. or so in my humble opinion. haha. who knows, in like 3 months time even waaay below average will suffice. or will it? dunno. depends on how desperate we get.

More importantly (yep it IS more important than bioing of chiobus =P), i will miss all the retarded things that we have to liberty to do in school. i mean, things like calling someone a retard outside will probably land u in jail, but in my class, shout retard and 15+++ pple turn around. haha. and also the dota -wtfmodeing+soccer+towerdefense till 4am, without a care in the world.

Hmm... dont think i will cry tomorrow. theres like no motivation to do so. its just like how at grad nite i didnt cry. coz i know i will see everyone else sooner or later when we doing A levels, and again at prom. i think i ll save my tears for prom. i dare to bet 50 bux with anyone i will cry one lor... especially if they gonna play some emo song... like "we are the young". Hmm... let me think who else will cry... actually i think most of us will, probably even lammo (!!) coz by that time, its like really the end of the end.

Ok, no more inspiration to blog anymore. Eh, the rest of u blog leh... dun slack =P.

PS. im sleeping in my living room tonite =(. my bros aircon decided to break down just when he was going to sleep and im giving up my room to him coz he got exams tmr. so wei da right???? =D

Aquarius & Libra

Aquarius & Libra

When Libra and Aquarius join in a love match, their relationship can serve to heighten and strengthen both Signs' consciousness. These two connect on a high mental level; they share a love of art, people and culture; they both abhor restrictive influences in their lives. They are likely to get along well because they have such similar needs and will not require more of one another than they're both willing to give. Both Signs are also very energetic, enthusiastic types; this relationship is not likely to become stagnant.

Both Aquarius and Libra are concerned with the betterment of the world and their fellow people. Aquarius is the most progressive thinker of the Zodiac, and they always have a new idea in the works. Libra is the diplomat of the Zodiac; abhorring conflict of any sort, they are born balancers (hence their Symbol, the Scales). Libra's urge to avoid conflict put together with a love of intellectual freedom can lead them to be somewhat indecisive at times; when this happens, more decisive Aquarius can step in and help Libra figure out which direction to turn. Libra can return the favor by smoothing Aquarius's occasionally ruffled feathers that result from the Water Bearer's idealistic thinking sometimes crashing down in the face of reality.

Libra is ruled by the Planet Venus (Love) and Aquarius is ruled by the Planets Uranus (Rebellion) and Saturn (Karma). This combination of influences can be an interesting and productive one; Libra and Aquarius should certainly take on other projects together than simply their love relationship, because they can make great things happen using their hearts, their urge for progress and their consciousness of the greater good. These two are an extraordinary duo for standing up for social justice or radical change in the community.

Both Libra and Aquarius are Air Signs. They have strong intellectual bonds to one another and constantly stimulate one another's ideas and communication styles and skills. Again, their ability to work together makes it obvious that these two Signs must take on larger projects in their life together -- they should concern themselves with the greater good. Libra can bring a certain balance to any undertaking that almost no other Sign is able to achieve. Aquarius and Libra together will also have many stimulating intellectual discussions about their interests and pursuits.

Libra is a Cardinal Sign and Aquarius is a Fixed Sign. Libra sets things into motion but may have trouble finishing them, which is what makes Aquarius's determined influence so positive: The Water Bearer has a great deal of follow-through and can take Libra's ideas and run with them to the end. These two work especially well together as they tend not to argue about who does what, who takes credit and who works behind the scenes versus out in the spotlight.
What's the best aspect of the Libra-Aquarius relationship? Their ability to work together as a team. Together they can learn much more than either Sign would alone. Their accomplishments and love of socializing and new projects make theirs a highly successful relationship.

Next outing venue?

Hey, anyone (besides lammo and me) ever heard of 'Mind Cafe'? It's this rather nice (though a bit small) cafe that has tons of board games, and some card games as well. The games are rather fun to play if you know which to choose =P or can ask the people there to recommend. Maybe we could go there next time we have an outing? Just a suggestion =D

It opens at 2pm, and costs $5++ from 2pm-6pm, ie 4 hours for $5, with free flow of drinks. After 6pm it's $2++ per hour, no more free flow of drinks. It's found near Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. If anyone interested, just leave a comment =) then maybe we can arrange for one sometime. =)

Rugby story

Hmm... now that the initial euphoria over the new blog is over, and the posts are starting to slow down (T.T), i decided to contribute something. Its about one of the greatest rugby tries in history. (I can ALMOST see zeng drooling already. haha)

Jamie Reeves actually watched the game live and told us this story in econs S, coz it was his last lesson and he wanted to motivate us to study harder. HOPEFULLY, after hearing this story we can all also start cheonging for As. =X

The greatest try

The game was played in 1973, and featured the All Blacks against the Barbarians. The All Blacks had one of the greatest teams they had ever assembled. In the words of Jamie Reeves, they were so huge right, they didnt even look like humans. The Barbarians were a select team of mostly British players, like an all-star British team. So, the All Blacks were on a tour around Europe, and this game was their last game before they returned to New Zealand. Everyone expected the All Blacks to steamroll the Barbarians....

BUT...

In the 4th minute, an All Blacks player kicked the ball into the final 3rd pitch, ie the last third of the pitch nearest the Barbarian try line. The Barbarian's scrum-half (his name is Phil Bennet i think) dropped back and picked the ball up, with the All Blacks players charging down on him. Now, the common thing to do is to kick the ball back into touch, coz if an opponent tackles u and u lose the ball there its GGXX, (ask zeng and dlam if u all dun believe me =P) especially with like 15 monsters cheonging down on u, u would definitely want to do that.

BUDDEN... he doesnt do that!! he picks up the ball, sidesteps not one, but TWO All Blacks players. and the amazing thing is that he does it with his BACK to them. (Just imagine sidesteping a player without even looking at him o.O). He then spins the ball out to the wing, and almost the whole team gets involved in passing, running and offloading to score one of the greatest tries ever, and the Barbarians went on to win 23-11

Haha, yar i know i cant describe it well lah. Just see it for yourself here: http://wesclark.com/rrr/gareth_edwards_try.wmv. The commentry sux though... i think its coz the commentator was too overawed by the try to say much. lol

So, i bet ur thinking: Huh???? wat does this have to do with studying? Haha, well... the whole move started when Phil Bennet did not kick the ball out to touch. Instead, he believed in himself and in his own technical ability to take the ball safely out of his own half. Just like him, we all should believe in ourselves... believe in our own capabilities, and that the magical score of 4As in the A levels is definitely within our reach. =)

Kk regardless of wat u got for prelims, its not important liao, lets all start cheonging!! =D

WOW!! Didnt know i was such a motivational person. Haha. Maybe if i cant get a job next time i'll just be a motivational speaker, repeat this story and earn big bux. Haha

P.S. GOGO CHELSEA!! I believe in u!!!
