clear skies!!

yay!! the haze finally looks like its beginning to clear.. After 2 weeks of rotting in an air-con room can finally breathe fresh air. =D

Btw, i was just thinking about how come the haze could suddenly clear just like that. so being the wonderful ex-geog student that i am, i went to do some research. Apparently...

Northeast Winter Monsoon (Asia)

"In Asia, the northeastern winter monsoons take place from December to early March. The temperature over central Asia is lower, creating a zone of high pressure there. The jet stream in this region splits into the southern subtropical jet and the polar jet. The subtropical flow directs northeasterly winds to blow across south Asia, creating dry air streams which produce clear skies over India from the months of November to May.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system develops over northern Australia and winds are directed toward Australia known as a monsoon trough.

During the Northeast Winter Monsoon, Australia and southeast Asia receive large amounts of rainfall." -wikipedia

And thanks to the wonderful dr chiong who was the one who stimulated my interest in geog!!

remember when we used to stay back from 3.30 to 6.00 on mondays and fridays to do mock papers??? and still remember when we cheong (no pun intended) to ming kee to have lunch, and buy chocolates from ntuc, den come back panting pretending like we just ran 2.4?? hahaha. and she was like "okay guuuuuys, sit down and start doing. u have 2 hours to finish the paper" o.0

those were the days....
